The 4.0 GPA Scale
Each letter grade has a grade point value on the 4.0 scale. Your GPA is calculated by converting each letter grade into grade points, then averaging those points based on credit hours.

How to Calculate GPA
GPA is calculated by converting each course grade into grade points, multiplying those points by the course credits, adding the results, then dividing by total credits.
Formula: GPA = Total Grade Points ÷ Total Credits
Example: English: A, 3 credits. Math: B+, 4 credits. History: A-, 3 credits.
A = 4.0 × 3 credits = 12.0. B+ = 3.3 × 4 credits = 13.2. A- = 3.7 × 3 credits = 11.1. Total grade points = 36.3. Total credits = 10. GPA = 36.3 ÷ 10 = 3.63.

If your teacher gives grades as percentages, convert the percentage into a letter grade first. For example, 92% usually maps to A-, 85% usually maps to B, and 78% usually maps to C+.
